We'd like to leave you this season with this quick little holiday saying from a fellow Kin Member.
In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season;
the Christians called it 'Christmas' and went to church;
the Jews called it 'Hanukkah' and went to synagogue;
the atheists went to parties and drank.
People passing each other on the street would say
'Merry Christmas!' or 'Happy Hanukkah!' or (to the atheists)
'Look out for the wall!'
Best of the Season to ALL!
Happy Holidays to ALL our friends!

Charity Christmas Concert
Naomi Striemer was born in Putnam Valley, NY and is a CAN/USA citizen. She was homeschooled on a hobby farm in Malagash Point, NS. At age 11, her family moved to MB where she recorded an album of Christian music. Prior, Naomi had never watched television nor listened to the radio.
At age 15, her family moved again, this time to Orlando, FL where she became familiar with life in the recording studio. Naomi Striemer was signed to Epic Records and completed her first album which was never released following a shakeup at Epic's parent, Sony BMG.
Striemer moved to Los Angeles, CA and recorded an album with Grammy-award winning producer Narada Michael Walden. Upon its debut, IMAGES was the #1 downloaded album in Canada, from which Billboard Magazine endorsed "Cars" featuring Santana, as "the melodic debut of the year."
Naomi is currently working on her new album. She runs her own publishing company, Nells Notes and has a 2009 release - simply, GREEN cd.

Bar- B-Que for Cystic Fibrosis
The Brantford Kinsmen Club is very pleased every year to put on a Bar-
B-Que for Cystic Fibrosis.
And Kinsmen are proud to have Zehrs Markets at 603 Colborne St. as our
Supporter for his event.
We support Cystic Fibrosis (CF) research as one of our many projects.
We feel that there are many very important projects.
The Cystic Fibrosis project was adopted by the Kin Canada organization
in 1964.
We have had a Bar-B-Que for Cystic Fibrosis since 1997 as our
continued contribution to CF yearly.
To date the Kinsmen organization has raised over $34,000,000 for CF.
This has contributed to many advancement into the research for CF.
The hard work and support of Kinsmen is deeply appreciated by
Canadians with CF. Since 1964, Kin and CCFF have shared in many
exciting accomplishments, including the discovery of the gene
responsible for CF in 1989. The discovery of this gene would not have
been possible without the tremendous help of Kinsmen.
Persons with CF usually had lived to approximately 4yrs of age, now
people with CF can live well into their late Thirty's.
At this time we would like to extend our sincerest regards to you and
your generosity for our many projects.
National Kin-CF Day is the first Saturday in May.
And ask you to support this cause by coming out to our Bar-B-Que and
buying a Hotdog or Sausage.
Many Thanks to all who attend, for without your support there would be
no cure.

Kinsmen Club of Brantford - SuperStars Tribute Live Show
SuperStars Tribute Live
Come and be close to the Stars.
Victoria Boland is a "vevila", a Gaelic term for "a woman of melodious voice". Born with a song in her heart and music in her soul, Victoria first charmed audiences with her rich, mellow voice at the age of 6, and cut her first recording at age 8 in Australia.
In her teens, Victoria was awarded 2 scholarships to Boston's Berklee College of Music for her jazz vocals but after taking out the title of Canadian Country 18 & Under Singing Champion in 2000, Victoria turned to country music for 4 years. In 2001, she wrote, produced and toured with her own cd, ALL WOMAN GIRL. The following year she had the thrill of working on a country project involving members of Elton John's band but "retired" from being a "country" music artist after winning the coveted title of Canadian Open Country Singing Champion in 2004.
WITNESS THE BEST TRIBUTE SHOW YOU WILL EVER SEE...
LIVE ON STAGE!.
Come and be close to the Stars.

Today Victoria is an international entertainer whose versatility as a vocalist and performer continues to attract interest from various areas of show business and the music industry. Highlights of her career include performances for thousands at a Shania Twain concert, at Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee and at the Opening Ceremonies of the World Cycling Championships in 2003.
While Victoria continues to work hard at her career as a singer/ songwriter and is now busily collaborating with another equally talented singer/songwriter on some totally innovative material, Victoria's most career-changing event in recent months has been her 4- month run in Hong Kong as a tribute artist. It has re-affirmed her life-time goal of becoming an international entertainer whether as a recording artist, a duo act, or all-round entertainer.
Andrew Rudd is a brilliantly talented guitarist, singer and songwriter, a former student of the prestigious JMC Music Academy in Sydney, Australia, where he gained a greater understanding of music and the entertainment industry, and was involved in six different bands, one of which was showcased amongst the top college bands at the top Sydney venue, "The Metro". At only 19, Andrew was invited to be the lead guitarist and a featured vocalist in a "Sixties Mania" and "Superstars of Rock" show being put on at "THE CAVERN", an upscale supper club in the popular Lan Kwai Fong area of Hong Kong. As the publicity for these shows stated "Andrew is the youngest member of the group, but his age is definitely not a reflection of his talents, whether it's singing lead, harmonizing, or playing the six or twelve string guitar."
So successful was the show, and Andrew's role in it, that his original contract was extended for a total of 16 months work, and he became conversant and skilled in all styles of music from the 50's to the 80's and beyond. Barry Britton, the show's producer, director and band leader, calls Andrew "the most exceptional guitar player in Hong Kong, who will one day soon be the biggest superstar on MTV". And we certainly don't need to tell you that the ladies adore him, do we!

Kinsmen club of Brantford - About US.

Kinsmen & Kinette Clubs of Canada / Les Clubs Kin du Canada
Kin Canada is an all-Canadian service organization made up of active community volunteers. Working together, members are enhancing the quality of life in their communities by promoting service, fellowship, positive values and national pride. Kin clubs support cystic fibrosis (CF) research and fund local projects across the country.
About Kin
When you were a kid it was great to have a place to meet new friends and discover new horizons. It can be the same now. Join a Kinsmen, Kinette or Kin club and become part of a dynamic organization filled with people just like you.
HISTORY: The Association was founded on Feb. 20, 1920 in Hamilton, Ontario by Harold A. Rogers O.C., O.B.E. (1899-1994). Rogers was 21 and had just returned from the trenches of the First World War when his father, a prominent Rotarian, encouraged him to get together a few young men his own age. However, when Rogers decided to join the same Rotary club as his father, his application was rejected. It was the policy of the Rotary not to have two members from the same business establishment. As a result of this rejection, Rogers and a small group of men gathered for a dinner meeting and became the first Kinsmen Club - the Kinsmen Club of Hamilton, Ontario.
MEMBERSHIP:
More than 7600 members belong to 564 Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin clubs from coast to coast. Kinsmen clubs are predominantly male-only while Kinette clubs are predominantly female-only. Kin clubs have a mixed membership of men and women. The Association was founded in Canada and there are no clubs outside of Canada.
ASSOCIATION'S MISSION STATEMENT:
"Kin Canada is a dynamic volunteer organization enriching our communities through service while embracing national pride, positive values, personal development and lasting friendships."
ASSOCIATION'S MOTTO:
"Serving the Community's Greatest Need"
SERVICE ACTIVITIES:
"Kin clubs undertake a wide variety of local fundraising and service projects. Its motto - "Serving the Community's Greatest Need" - means that each club determines how it will raise funds and how those funds will be spent in the community. The Association encourages the autonomy of its clubs so that as many decisions as possible are made by its members at the club level. Since 1964, the Kinsmen and Kinettes' national fundraising project involves supporting the work of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF). This year the Association's total contributions are expected to surpass $34 million for CF research and treatment. Kin are also active from coast to coast promoting a variety of national pride initiatives designed to give Canadians the opportunity to demonstrate that they are proud of their country.
For example, Kinsmen and Kinettes annually spearhead 'Raise the Flag!' Day, a patriotic event encouraging Canadians everywhere to raise and fly the Canadian flag. This annual national event takes place in hundreds of communities on the Saturday before the Victoria Day weekend in May.
Help your community. Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin clubs are the country's largest all Canadian service groups, made up of active community volunteers. Members work together to serve the community's greatest need by promoting service, fellowship, family values and national pride. They support Cystic Fibrosis research and fund local projects, like playgrounds and ice rinks, across the country. So, if you'd like to give something back to your community, the club is the perfect answer.
Develop personally. It's very satisfying to be a member of the club. You'll be proud of the work you do for others and pleased with the personal benefits that result. You may become a better leader, or more of a team player. You'll find yourself more relaxed in dealing with groups; your presentation skills will improve and you'll become a better public speaker. Plus you'll have a chance to network with people from a wide variety of businesses.
Make life-long friendships. Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin club members come from all walks of life, so you'll enjoy being part of a youthful and spirited group. And like most members, you'll make lifetime friendships that extend far beyond the club itself.
Have a whole lot of fun. Although Kinsmen dates back more than 80 years, there's nothing old- fashioned about the meetings. They're lively, interesting and fun. Fundraising events get you into the community and they're always rewarding and entertaining. So join the club today, and brighten the horizon - for yourself and your community.
2006-2007 President The 2006-07 elected National President is Bruce Lloyd of Fergus, Ontario.
ASSOCIATION HEADQUARTERS:
Kin Canada is located at 1920 Hal Rogers Dr., in Cambridge, Ontario, about 100 kilometres west of Toronto on Hwy. 401. A full-time staff of 7 provides bilingual services to 564 Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin clubs. The chief executive officer is Executive Director Ric McDonald.

Kinsmen Club of Brantford - Services Provided
SERVICES Provided
Our clubs undertake a wide variety of local fundraising and service projects. Our motto "Serving the Community's Greatest Need" means that each club determines how it will raise funds and how those funds will be spent in its community. We encourage the autonomy of our clubs so that as many decisions as possible are made by our members at the club level. Kinsmen and Kinettes' national fundraising project involves supporting the work of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF).
Our Association was recently honored by the CCFF for having contributed more than $30 million to CF research and treatment since 1964. We are also active coast-to-coast promoting a variety of national pride initiatives designed to give Canadians the opportunity to demonstrate that they are proud of their country.
For example, Kinsmen and Kinettes annually spearhead "Raise-the-Flag!" Day, a patriotic event encouraging Canadians everywhere to raise and fly the Canadian flag. This annual national event takes place in hundreds of communities the Saturday preceding the Victoria Day weekend. The Association maintains a National Disaster Fund to assist in the event of emergencies in Canadian communities. In 1949 the Association set up a Cancer Scholarship Fund to help train doctors in treating this dreaded disease. The Hal Rogers Endowment Fund, renamed the Kinsmen & Kinette Bursary in 1999, awards $1,000.00 bursaries each year to students who are registered in a post-secondary program. This was established to assist young people in higher education. For more info on bursaries - see below.
RECENT SUCCESSES
Last year, our clubs contributed more than $21.6 million to Canadian communities, to say nothing of the countless hours spent planning and carrying out their many fundraising and service projects. None of the money raised in the community is used to fund our national Association. The national headquarters and its programs and services are financed through our members' annual dues along with some revenue from such sources as our internal sales division. All the money raised in a community stays in that community. To the best of our knowledge, our members raise more money per member than any other service club in the world. Last year, our members donated more than $1 million to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, making Kinsmen and Kinettes the largest single fundraising organization for CF research in the world.
